We have one major rework station from pace in our rework area with a vision system, and four smaller rework stations each located on a technician’s desk. The major rework station is a Pace PRC 2000. All of the smaller rework stations are a Pace MBT 201. These all come into play for new production as well as repairs and modifications. For instance, if you have one product that can come in a multitude of configurations, we are able to convert your product from one configuration to another by hand, in a minimal amount of time (if necessary). By doing this, we afford you some flexibility for when you are unsure exactly how many of each configuration of your product you need when we are performing your SMT run. These rework stations are also handy for modifying boards with any changes that might be necessary after your product has been field tested for a period of time, or for adding features at a later date (obviously within limitations).
We
have 2 vision inspection stations, both manufactured
by Vision: The Mantis and The Lynx. Both
are stereo vision systems. Both have long
working distances, allowing for easy inspection
and modification/repair of a product while
being viewed by the inspection station. The
Mantis has 3 lenses that you can rotate through
to change magnification settings from 2X,
to 6X, and to 10X magnification. The Lynx
has variable magnification up to 120X. Using
the Lynx we are able to zoom in on individual
solder joints on something as small as a
fine pitched part to check on the quality
of the solder joint. All products we ship
are not necessarily inspected with a Vision
station, as this would obviously not be feasible.
Inspection with one of these is up to the
discretion of the technical department based
on a multitude of factors.
